Chalky Pink Perfection

I have wanted to dip my toes in the Chalk Paint waters for quite some time now, but I'm a coward, what can I say?

I was cleaning my bedroom the other day and I have a HUGE long wall in my bedroom, seriously, it's like 18' long! In my old house I had all these tiny walls broken up by doorways so I had multiple small dressers. In this house, they were lined up along this big long wall like a dresser parade. They made my bedroom feel really cluttered and I just...snapped. I couldn't take it anymore.

I got on the local classifieds website and did a search for dressers. I came across this beauty but it was 56 miles away, up two canyons. But it was a huge 71" long! I called her right away and told her I wanted it before I even discussed it with the husband (Who would have to get off work early, drive up there, cuz I had no idea where I was going, and load this beast onto a trailer).

Yes, I'm pathetic, the only before picture I have is a picture I took, of the listing on my iPad, with my phone. Don't judge =0P

I think my mom still wants to shoot me because I painted a beautiful piece of wood furniture. But I can't help it, I'm in love with the outcome =0) It is so perfect with my cross stitch rose and my 18 year old wedding bouquet.

The only drawback was that I had to completely rearrange my bedroom. I'm still working on getting it put together but at least it's finally being put together after a year of being in limbo/the catch all room where everything gets thrown when we don't know what to do with it.

I'm finally going to have a real bedroom, not a storage room in this house =0)

Pre-Construction Meeting

Last week we had our pre-construction meeting for our new house. Oh boy was that a lot of work! About five hours worth, going over every little teeny tiny detail and making sure we had every T crossed and every I dotted.

Luckily we had been very throrough in our planning and there was no design work left to be done.

Our house should be done in February-ish.

Picture this house a pale, butter yellow, with stone instead of brick, and a third car garage.

Finished Swap Quilt

I haven't been doing much lately. I had influenza A and was quite sick for a bit. Now I am feeling better, but have the lingering cough and major fatigue. It seems that going to work is about all I can handle then I am totally wiped out. I hope that part doesn't last long.

I finished this quilt several weeks ago and have just been waiting for my partner to let me know that she received it so that I could share pictures.

Our theme for this round was Log Cabin, and I wanted to fit the theme but still give my partner something different. I think this turned out pretty cute, and I hope she likes it. I haven't received mine yet, but I will share when I do. I hope it comes soon, I can't wait to see it.

In other good news, that thing I hinted at in my last post is coming right along. Something that I never thought would ever happen for me, is happening. I still can't believe it, and I still keep waiting for someone to come up to me and say "We were just kidding... you can't really do this." I keep waiting for another shoe to drop, for another catastrophe, another burst bubble, someone to come along and pinch me and wake me from this dream.

But...we have handed over money, and now...

We have our names on a sweet little third of an acre of dirt. Right out side of my bedroom window is the Second Tee (I hope those five AM golfers are quiet, and have good aim, and don't break my windows!)

There are plenty of things I am NOT looking forward to...putting in landscaping being #1, but I am looking forward to being in control of my own destiny. Having a place all my own, where I can paint the walls if I want to! And oh boy and I looking forward to not having stark white walls!!!! We are still about a year out, but my goal is in sight, it's no longer some abstract thought, way off in the distance.

I will finally have a home! Oh happy day! And I am sorry to say it, but you will probably hear a lot about it for the next year or so =0P
