If you've ever worried how you are going to keep your children from killing each other during a long, rainy, cold day, maybe I suggest you grab your 40% off coupon, jump in your car and make a mad dash to Michaels, or Hobby Lobby and buy a package of Shrinky Dink Plastic.
It was about $6 (Before coupon) and there are ten sheets of plastic.
My kids spent the ENTIRE day together and didn't argue once, we made shrinky dinks all day long and we had a ball!
Here is a view of most of what we made. Each of the boys made a key tag for their house key. I made the cherries tag for my new car keys =0) I made the little vintage trailer for our trailer keys. I think my kids had more fun making things out of the little scraps than they did making their actual item. They made little things to put on their shoelaces, their zipper pulls, their backpacks. We didn't even use two full sheets! We still have eight sheets left!
We are spending the day at Grandmas today and I am going to take the shrink plastic with us to curb the "I'm boreds" and maybe grandma will have fun making one too =0)
