Communing with Mother Nature

Spring is my favorite part of the year, a time when everything is fresh and new, when the world awakens from it's slumbering winter with fresh little flowered faces.

It's also the time of year for one of my favorite family activities. Going up to the mountains on the opposite side of the valley to see the Mountain Goats.

I seriously need to have a telephoto lens for this because my meager 300 zoom just doesn't cut it.

We didn't' see very many this year, less than ten I would say, usually it's closer to about 40 at this particular spot but we are still fairly early in the season so maybe this is just the scouting party.

But anyway you look at it, they are amazing animals. They must have sticky little suction cups on their feet to be able to cling to the rocks like this. And they just go tripping across the rock face like they don't have a care in the world, like the thought of slipping and plummeting thousands of feet to their deaths has never even entered their mind.

I will check back with them in a couple of weeks to see if their friends have managed to make it back yet.
